Evaluation
After planning, researching and creating a 3 course meal using local ingredients, it has become clear that documenting and following the design process is an aspect when completing any of the design challenges. This process allows us to meet the needs of those impacted by the design, while creating something that can be enjoyed by many others. This challenge was created and designed to suit the needs of adults in the Rockhampton Region, meaning that all of the identified risks are based on the knowledge and skill of an adult. If this was conducted with students, there would be a far bigger risk involved with keeping students safe while preparing this menu. Overall, this challenge can be completed with both adults and younger students, however, different aspect may need to be changed to ensure safety of all involved. When students complete this challenge, it not only educates them on food safety and handling. Students will learn about the resources and produce that is grown locally and also the impact of large supermarket chains selling produce from overseas on local farmers.
